Three people accused of providing guns to an Israeli passport bearer seized in Kuala Lumpur have been arrested by Malaysian authorities. Late Friday, Police Inspector-General Razarudin Husain revealed that the 36-year-old Israeli was found with six pistols and 200 rounds in a suitcase.
According to reports, an Israeli man entered Malaysia from the UAE on March 12 using a fake French passport. Husain said the suspect may have ties to Israeli intelligence, but he claimed to be in Malaysia to settle a family disagreement with another Israeli.
Since the Israeli changed hotels multiple times throughout his stay in Malaysia, concerns remain about his genuine objectives. After the arrest, Malaysian authorities increased security for the monarch and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Malaysia, a primarily Muslim nation, has always supported Palestinians and condemned Israel’s military operations in Gaza.
The Musli brothers criminal family’s Israeli mobster Shalom Avitan may be the arrested Israeli, according to Hebrew media. Avitan allegedly planned to kill Eran Haya, the leader of a rival criminal organization with whom his side had a vicious conflict.
The event highlights regional security dynamics and Malaysian authorities’ struggles to maintain order under foreign pressures.
