SBW Berlin Scholarship in Germany 2024 | Fully Funded

Opportunities Circle’s SBW Berlin Scholarship 2024 offers fully paid support for overseas students attending Potsdam and Berlin’s Universities of Applied Science. This award covers academic costs and encourages social projects that address issues in the recipients’ home countries while honouring exceptional students with volunteer experience.

Winners of the SBW Berlin Scholarship will take part in charitable organisations’-facilitated community-focused initiatives that are suited to the requirements of their home areas. Following graduation, with support from SBW Berlin, students carry out their initiatives while developing their networking abilities and establishing relationships with businesses.

This grant is intended for academically talented but financially challenged students who give their time and are willing to learn about global sustainability. It is anticipated that recipients will return home after completing their education.

There are 20 scholarships available for students to study in Berlin or Potsdam in a variety of subjects. Living expenses, housing costs, and tuition are all covered by this fully financed opportunity. Refugees may also qualify, subject to certain limitations. Eligibility Criteria:

  • Age requirements: Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 30.
  • Academic standing: Candidates must have at least an average grade point of 2.0 (in German).
  • Family connection: Candidates should not be living in Germany with any first-degree relatives.
  • Financial need: Candidates must show evidence of a low income in their home.
  • Development help: Applications are invited from nationals of nations in need of development assistance.
  • Status of residency: Those with long-term resident permits in the EU, those with student visas, and those with residence permits for academic purposes are all eligible.
  • Criteria for exclusion: Applicants who are receiving financial aid for their studies in Germany from other governments or organisations are not eligible.
  • Application timing: Pre-starting university education or the first or second semester of a state-recognized university are the only times applications can be submitted.
  • Experience in the non-profit or social sector is required of applicants, either professionally or through volunteer work.
  • Period of residency: Before applying for the award, applicants cannot have lived in Germany for longer than 18 months.
  • Post-graduate commitment: Upon graduation, candidates must pledge to work in their home country for a minimum of 18 months or participate in volunteer work in Germany until the repayment plan is completed.
