The Abel Visiting Scholar Program provides a unique, fully funded one-month opportunity for researchers from disadvantaged nations to work with worldwide research partners. This program seeks to enable brilliant minds by giving them access to a platform where they can advance their research skills with respected mentors and internationally recognized academics. For a month, researchers from developing nations can explore cutting-edge techniques that will lead to ground-breaking findings.
This program, which is overseen by the International Mathematical Union’s Commission for Developing Countries and funded by the Abel Prize in Mathematics, allows academics to conduct post-doctoral research abroad three times a year, with three grants usually being awarded. Abel Prize Scholars program participants are eligible to apply three times in a year, with the possibility of being granted full funding for one month each time.
This program, which is primarily intended for post-doctoral mathematicians in the early phases of their careers, provides an essential research sabbatical to support their ongoing research activities and academic teaching duties. Considering the scarcity of funding in mathematics, this is one of the most renowned and sought-after opportunities for scholars.
The International Mathematical Union and the Commission for Developing Countries are committed to closing the funding gap that mathematicians encounter in the field of research. Acknowledging the abundance of mathematical ability in underdeveloped nations, the Commission offers scholarships every year to allow mathematicians to undertake free research overseas. In addition to financial support, this fully supported research program for post-doc mathematicians cultivates an irreplaceable global network that enhances opportunities for cooperation and access to otherwise unattainable resources. Therefore, academics shouldn’t pass up this wonderful chance to study abroad.
