Applications are currently being accepted for the University of Pretoria Commonwealth Scholarship 2026 in South Africa. Students from Commonwealth nations who want to pursue doctoral degrees are the target audience for this fully financed opportunity. Please be aware that citizens of South Africa are not permitted to apply.
Candidates must start their doctoral studies at the University of Pretoria in 2026 in order to be eligible. With a substantial value of ZAR 190,000, the scholarship pays for books, living expenses, medical bills, and housing. For chosen scholars, the University will also cover the cost of their study visa and return travel.
With complete financial support, this program gives exceptional overseas students the opportunity to further their study in South Africa.
Eligibility Criteria :
- Open to residents of Commonwealth countries (excluding South Africa).
- Applicants must begin studies at the University of Pretoria in 2026.
- A separate application for admission to a UP doctoral program for the 2026 academic year is required.
- Must have identified and secured a potential supervisor at UP.
- Academic qualifications must be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
- Applicants should have completed a postgraduate or Master’s degree within the last two years.
Must be under 40 years of age at the time of application. - PhD or Master’s students currently enrolled or previously registered at the University of Pretoria are not eligible.
