The MEXT Scholarship 2026 at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU), Japan, is now accepting applications. APU, a prestigious private university, is referred to as “Japan’s global village” due to its multicultural student body.
The MEXT University Recommended Scholarship, which offers fully supported Master’s and PhD study possibilities, is open for the September 2026 intake. The Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) is the sponsor of this scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria :
- Must be an international applicant from a MEXT-designated country
- Must hold citizenship of a MEXT-designated country
- Must be born on or after April 2, 1990
- Minimum GPA of 2.30 out of 3.00 required
- Applicants must apply first to APU, which will nominate eligible candidates for the scholarship
- Must provide a valid English proficiency test score taken on or after mid-March 2024
