The University of Michigan’s prestigious CHEAR Fellowship 2026–2027, which is organized by the Susan B. Meister Child Health Evaluation and Research (CHEAR) Center, is currently accepting applications. The goal of this two-year interdisciplinary fellowship is to give fellows extensive training in pediatric health care and outcomes research, giving them the knowledge and expertise they need to carry out significant, empirically supported child health research.

Eligibility Criteria:
Physicians (MD/DO):
- Open to third-year pediatrics residents or fourth-year internal medicine/pediatrics residents from any accredited institution.
- First-year pediatric subspecialty fellows currently enrolled at the University of Michigan Medical School are eligible.
- Incoming fellows who have matched to University of Michigan programs may also apply.
- Pediatric faculty members at the University of Michigan (instructional or clinical track) are welcome to apply.
Non-Physician Clinicians:
- Open to nurses, physician assistants, and mental health professionals with a demonstrated interest in pediatric health services research.
- Applicants in this category must contact the Program Director before submitting their application.
PhD Graduates or Candidates:
- Eligible applicants include those holding or completing a PhD (or equivalent doctoral degree) in public health, health policy, decision sciences, management science, economics, or closely related fields.
- PhD applicants to the University of Michigan Pediatric Psychology Fellowship may combine that program with CHEAR Fellowship training for an integrated research experience.
