Located in San Diego, California, in the United States, the Hansen Leadership Institute (HLI) 2026 is a fully financed program focused on international cooperation and leadership. Its goal is to develop the next generation of world leaders, peacemakers, and change agents committed to advancing peace via communication, diplomacy, and cross-cultural interaction.
Every year, HLI hosts a three-week summer program that brings together outstanding graduate students, undergraduate students, and early-career professionals from all around the world. Eligibility Criteria:
For International Applicants:
- Must be an undergraduate (final-year) or graduate student or have recently graduated.
- Aged 20–25 years at the start of the program.
- Demonstrated leadership potential in community, university, or professional activities.
- Have strong English proficiency (both written and spoken).
- No previous visit to the United States is preferred but not mandatory.
- Must possess a valid international passport by the application deadline.
For U.S. Applicants:
- Must be a U.S. citizen aged 20–25 years.
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a U.S. college or university.
- Have a proven record of community engagement and leadership experience.
