The World Academy of Science Scholarship 2026 (ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO) for Developing Countries | Fully Funded

For exceptional international students from developing nations who choose to pursue PhD studies in China, the World Academy of Science (TWAS) Scholarship provides complete tuition coverage, a monthly stipend of ¥7,000, and campus housing. This program is a component of the ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO Scholarship, an initiative to foster science in developing countries by the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and TWAS/UNESCO. Up to 40 students will be chosen annually to spend up to four years studying in China. A non-profit international organization with 37 member institutions worldwide, ANSO was established in 2018 with the goal of advancing global innovation, science, and technology. In order to develop and train future scientists globally, the ANSO Scholarship for Young Talents was established in 2019.

Eligibility Criteria :

  • Candidates cannot be citizens of China.
  • Candidates must be citizens of the TWAS Developing Countries in the South’s list of qualified developing nations.
  • Candidates must speak Chinese or English fluently.
  • Candidates for PhD programs must be born on or after January 1, 1988.
  • Candidates must fulfill USTC or UCAS’s foreign student entrance requirements.
  • During the scholarship term, applicants are not permitted to work on any other projects or assignments.
  • Candidates who are presently enrolled in a PhD program at any Chinese university or establishment are ineligible. The applicant will be denied and reported to the existing institution if such a situation is found.

China is the host nation.

Asia is the study abroad region.
