UKRI AI Centre for Doctoral Training SUSTAIN Scholarships 2026 – Fully Funded, UK

Applications for the 2026 SUSTAIN Scholarships, a fully supported studentship supporting research in artificial intelligence (AI) for sustainable agri-food systems, are being accepted by the UKRI AI Centre for Doctoral Training.

The scholarship provides complete tuition, a tax-free annual salary of £31,805, and an annual Research Training Support Grant (RTSG) of £3,000.

The goal of SUSTAIN, a joint initiative between the Universities of Lincoln, Aberdeen, Queen’s Belfast, and Strathclyde, is to prepare the next generation of AI scientists to work with growers and agri-food professionals to create and implement cutting-edge technology.

In order to successfully apply for this esteemed doctorate studentship, qualified individuals are advised to research the scholarship details, qualifications, advantages, and application process. The opportunity will open for entrance in October 2026.

Eligibility Criteria :

  • A minimum of a First Class or 2:1 Bachelor’s degree, or an MSc with merit in a pertinent field, is required.
  • English Proficiency: Fulfill the necessary requirements; non-native speakers must have a degree from an English-speaking university or an IELTS 6.5 equivalent.
  • Program Application: Submit an application for a four-year PhD program run by a team from one of the four partner universities.
  • Research Focus: Be ready to use creative research to solve practical commercial and technical issues.

Scholarships for Postgraduate and PhD Programs

Benefits of the scholarship include a fully financed annual salary of £31,805 as well as £30,000 for travel and research assistance.

Language Requirement: IELTS is not necessary.
