University of Malaya Scholarships 2026–27 in Malaysia

The University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is currently accepting applications for the UM Bright Scholarship 2026–2027. Students from Malaysia and other countries who want to pursue PhD programs can apply for this fully financed fellowship.

The scholarship offers monthly stipends to cover living expenses in addition to a complete tuition price remission for a maximum of seven semesters. The program seeks to draw gifted students from all over the world and give them chances for professional growth, academic success, and cross-cultural interaction.

Eligibility Criteria :

  • At the time of application, candidates must be under 30.
  • must have a minimum CGPA of 3.70 and a Bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent) from an accredited university.
  • Additionally, a Master’s degree in research or mixed mode (coursework and dissertation) with a minimum CGPA of 3.70/4.00 is required.
  • International candidates must submit documentation of their English language proficiency, such as:
  • IELTS: 6.5 is the minimum score.
  • 73–93 on the TOEFL
  • CEFR: B2 level
  • Within two years of the exam date, the English test must remain valid.
  • Candidates cannot be receiving financial assistance or another scholarship from another organization.

Malaysia is the scholarship country.

University of Malaya (UM) is the host institution.

Funding Coverage: Completely Funded

International students are eligible.

Benefits :

  • For a maximum of 42 months, an RM3,500 monthly stipend will be given.
  • For seven semesters, the grant comprises a complete tuition cost waiver.
  • The university does not pay for personal charges including preparing a passport, paying for a visa, insurance, airline tickets, medical exams, lodging, and agreement paperwork.
