The Google Fellowship Program 2026 pairs exceptional graduate students with Google Research Mentors to assist them in their PhD pursuits. Up to $85,000 is awarded to each fellow to cover living expenses, research-related costs, and travel, including excursions abroad.
With the goal of fostering close ties between Google and the academic community, the initiative honors outstanding and creative research in computer science and related subjects. Eligibility Criteria :
- For the term of the Fellowship, students must continue to enroll full-time in their PhD program; otherwise, the award will be forfeited.
- Google employees are not eligible, nor are their spouses, kids, or household members.
- Students who have already received a similar industrial prize are not eligible to apply (government or non-profit funding exempt).
- Reapplying is not permitted for recipients of previous PhD Fellowships.
Region-Specific Qualifications:
- Incoming or early-stage PhD candidates from Africa, India, Latin America, and Southeast Asia are eligible for the fellowship; full-time enrollment in computer science (or a related discipline) during the grant year is required; PhD admittance is not guaranteed.
- First or second-year PhD candidates in Australia and New Zealand are not obliged to complete graduate coursework.
- Canada and the USA: By the award year, graduate courses for a PhD must be finished.
- East Asia: Most graduate courses are finished, but enough time is needed for research.
