Applications are now being accepted for Germany’s Sustainable Metallurgy IMPRS Scholarships 2026, which offer three fully financed PhD posts in advanced materials research and green industrial transformation.   • Annual gross salary of approximately €40,000
  • Includes full social security coverage (health insurance, pension, unemployment insurance)
  • Entitlement to 30 paid vacation days plus public holidays

Ruhr University Bochum (RUB):

  • Funding provided as a tax-free scholarship of around €2,050 per month (net)
  • Scholars must independently arrange and pay for mandatory health insurance

University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE):

  • Funding provided through a TV-L EG 13 (65%) employment contract
  • Annual gross salary of approximately €39,000–€40,000

  • No tuition fees: The program does not charge tuition, though a semester contribution of around €350 is required, which usually includes public transportation access across Germany
