France Marianne Initiative 18-Week Fellowships 2026, France (Fully Funded)

Applications are now being accepted for the Marianne Initiative for Human Rights Defenders 2026, which provides human rights advocates from all over the world with a special chance to spend a fully funded, intensive semester in France. This esteemed fellowship is intended to assist people who operate in hazardous or difficult settings by offering possibilities for professional growth, capacity-building, and a secure environment for rest, introspection, and strengthening their advocacy work.

The effort, which was started in 2021 by French President Emmanuel Macron, is overseen by the Association Marianne and is headed by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior.

Participants gain from specialized instruction, knowledgeable mentoring, and interaction with international human rights networks, all of which help them develop their abilities and broaden their international networks. Additionally, the program emphasizes long-term effects on human rights work, resilience, and well-being.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates must actively advocate for and defend civil and political rights, women’s rights, minority rights, children’s rights, environmental justice, or other relevant human rights problems.
  • It is necessary to have a solid and documented history of community-based human rights work, activism, or advocacy that shows regular participation in the area.
  • Supporting documentation, such as project reports, references, media coverage, or other proof of their accomplishments and influence, must be submitted by candidates.
  • Applications must be submitted by the deadline via the official French government application platform.
  • Candidates should exhibit a strong commitment to using the information, abilities, and experience they acquire during the fellowship to improve their work and make a significant contribution to their professional networks and local communities.
