The Department of Biological Sciences is hiring a Master’s research assistantship (subject to grant funding) with the goal of assessing how native plant communities and curlyleaf pondweed react to late-season herbicide treatments in lakes in southern Minnesota. Dr. Ryan Wersal is in charge of the project. Six lakes will be used for the research, which will involve a lot of fieldwork, including boat-based sampling and ice-based sample in the winter. This opportunity blends academic study with practical ecological research in freshwater ecosystems and aquatic plant management.
Eligibility Criteria :
- must possess a bachelor’s degree in a related subject.
- It is very helpful to have prior experience with ArcGIS Pro, water sampling, and point intercept surveys.
- must fulfill Minnesota State University’s admission standards.
- It is necessary to have a current driver’s license, and it is ideal to have prior boat trailering experience.
