The International Writers Workshop 2027 in Hong Kong is currently accepting applications. The International Writers’ Workshop (IWW) at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) is in charge of the fully supported residence program. This esteemed international program, which will take place in Hong Kong from February 26 to March 25, 2027, is open to writers from all around the world.
The International Writers Workshop offers writers a special chance to spend a month in a multicultural and creative setting where they may concentrate on their literary endeavors, share ideas, and establish connections with other writers from various nations and backgrounds. Participants will have the opportunity to improve their writing, participate in conversations, and share their experiences and narratives with a global writing community.
“Inheritance” is the topic for the 2027 edition. While it is not necessary, applicants are urged to consider how their work pertains to this issue. Diverse literary voices and imaginative viewpoints from all genres and writing techniques are welcome at the residence.
Participants will showcase their work, take part in literary events, and engage with audiences, academics, and other authors at the IWW Literary Festival following the program’s conclusion.

Eligibility Criteria:
- All nations are welcome to submit an application.
- Candidates need to have at least one book published.
- Candidates must currently reside outside of Hong Kong.
- It is necessary to have a strong command of either Mandarin or Cantonese or English.
- Attendance at the welcoming ceremony, which takes place during the program’s first week, is required.
Benefits:
- Tickets for round-trip travel to and from Hong Kong will be provided to participants.
- For the duration of the residency program, free lodging will be offered.
- A daily stipend will also be given to chosen writers to aid with living and personal expenses while they are there.
Required Documents
- Applicants must submit an artist’s statement of approximately one page explaining their background, creative work, and literary interests.
- A writing sample of 12–15 pages is required as part of the application.
- Candidates should provide an updated CV or resume highlighting their academic, professional, and literary achievements.
