Eligibility Criteria:

  • Any academic discipline, including science, engineering, social sciences, humanities, law, and economics, is eligible to apply. We particularly encourage projects that bring together many fields of research to address environmental problems.
  • In addition to having a stellar academic record (above average marks), you should be passionate about supporting sustainable development and finding answers to environmental issues.

Requirements for Applications:

  • German language fluency is required as all application materials must be submitted in that language.
  • As part of your program, you can study overseas, but the primary research should be done at a German university.
  • Make sure you submit your application on time and in full. Applications are limited to one per research group.
  • This is not a scholarship for colleges; it is for individual students.
  • Never submit a wide research topic that hasn’t been previously addressed with the DBU.
  • You are not eligible to reapply if your application is denied.
