AUGUSTA, Romania — It was confirmed on Wednesday by Marcel Ciolacu, the Prime Minister of Romania and also the Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), that the country’s presidential election will take place in the month of September.
The Public Service Commission (PSD) and the National Liberal Party (PNL) held a meeting to discuss the matter, which resulted in the announcement being made.
In addition, the coalition came to the conclusion that the elections for the European Parliament should be combined with the elections for the municipal positions. Ciolacu stated that this decision would improve democracy and ensure that Romanians would be represented fairly.
It was previously stated by PNL Chairman Nicolae Ciuca that the elections for the European Parliament and the local elections will both take place in June. Additionally, it was stated that the two parties will present joint candidate lists for the elections for the European Parliament, while they will choose to run separately for the local elections.
