Tropical Depression Debby Wreaks Havoc Across the U.S. Northeast, Leaving Destruction in Its Wake

Published:

Tropical Depression After a deadly southern spree this week, Debby continues its catastrophic route through the Northeast. Debby threatens Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New York with torrential rains, flash flooding, and tornadoes after killing eight.

Debby is fading, but severe weather remains, according to the NWS. 17-inch flash floods have flooded some areas of South Carolina. Thousands in the Carolinas, West Virginia, Virginia, and Maryland are without power, and LaGuardia and Reagan airports have been disrupted.

Debby earlier caused a series of tornadoes in the Carolinas, killing a man in North Carolina and causing significant damage. Four dams in Georgia burst during flooding, causing evacuations and damaging homes.

Residents should stay alert as Debby swings north. As it travels over saturated areas, the storm could cause more damage. Communities must rebuild after Debby, a harsh reminder of nature’s might.
