The guidelines and procedures required to submit a competitive essay and improve your chances of winning will be explained in this post. The second essay competition for 2024 has been announced by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Participants are invited to be students from both secondary schools and higher education institutions. To show off your writing abilities and become a winner, apply now.

The top essay submissions will split a total of N1.4 million in cash, in addition to several prizes, certifications, and accolades.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates must be citizens of Nigeria.
  • Candidates must be enrolled in a Nigerian secondary or university school.
  • The originality and rational presentation of a 1,500-word essay focusing on how technological skills can address social and environmental issues—such as developing apps for healthcare or education, analyzing data for social justice, or creating digital tools for environmental sustainability—will be the criterion for judging participants in the tertiary category.
  • Participants in the secondary category will be judged on the uniqueness, lucidity, and applicability of a 1,000-word essay that suggests alternatives to cybercrimes, with a focus on how youth can direct their energy and creativity into constructive online pursuits like writing, music, digital art, or entrepreneurship.

  • N800,000 (eight hundred thousand naira) was the winner.
  • N500,000 (five hundred thousand naira) was the first runner-up.
