UEC Tokyo Japanese Government MEXT Scholarships Spring 2025 in Japan (Fully Funded)

With great pleasure, the University of Electro-Communications (UEC Tokyo) announces the opening of applications for the coveted MEXT Scholarship, sponsored by the Japanese government, for the spring 2025 intake. With this grant, international students will have the chance to enrol in two prestigious programs and pursue Master’s or Doctoral degrees.

The goal of the Self-Evolving Smart Societies (SESS) Leadership Development Program is to develop future leaders who will tackle important societal issues and bring about significant change in their home nations. Focused on economic stability, carbon neutrality, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), SESS gives students the information and abilities they need to spearhead significant social change.

Through advanced international education, the Human Resource Development Program Facilitating the Resolution of Global Energy Challenges (GECHA) seeks to equip professionals to address global energy challenges. GECHA is a worldwide network of scholars committed to resolving energy-related problems, especially in developing nations, by utilising AI and quantum technology.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Age Requirement: Candidates must be born on April 2, 1990, or later. Under extreme conditions, exceptions might be taken into consideration.
  • Nationality: Although a small number of applications from other nationalities may also be taken into consideration, priority is given to students from designated “Focus Countries.”
  • Health: In order to continue their studies, applicants must be in good physical and mental health.
  • Academic Excellence: The JASSO grading system requires a minimum GPA of 2.30 on a 3.00 scale.
  • Language Ability:
  • Japanese: The Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N2 level or above is required.
  • English: Pass a certified English proficiency test with an equivalent score or at least a B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Benefits:

  • Master’s Students: For the course of their two-year degree, they will get 144,000 JPY per month.
  • Monthly stipend for doctoral students: 145,000 JPY for the duration of the three-year program.
  • Extra Regional Allowances: You can be qualified for additional allowances to help with regional living expenses based on where you live.
  • Complete Coverage of Tuition and Entrance Fees: The scholarship pays for all tuition and entrance fees, so you won’t have to worry about these expenditures.
  • Travel Assistance: To make it easier for you to get to the program, the scholarship covers the cost of an economy-class plane ticket from the international airport closest to you to Tokyo, Japan.
