The USIP Peace Scholar Fellowship Program for 2025–2026 is now accepting applications. PhD candidates at American colleges can get up to $20,000 in financing for their dissertation work through this non-residential fellowship. With funding from the Minerva Research Initiative, the program prioritizes initiatives that address conflicts in the Indo-Pacific, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. It focuses on conflict management, peacebuilding, and security studies.
Underrepresented minority applicants are encouraged to apply for this 10-month fellowship. A yearly workshop in Washington, DC, will be attended by fellows in addition to the possibility of awarding up to 18 fellowships.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The grant is open to PhD students enrolling at any university in the United States.
- To be eligible, candidates must have finished all necessary coursework and comprehensive tests for their doctorate.
- Non-citizens of the United States may also apply.
- The USIP Peace Scholars program has no age restrictions.
- A accepted dissertation research proposal is a requirement for applicants.
- Research that is in line with USIP Issue Areas or the Minerva Research Initiative is given priority.
- The study proposal’s quality and likelihood of being put into practice practically determine which ones are chosen.
- Fellows are required to attend the Peace Scholar training in person in the fall of 2025 in Washington, DC.
