Applications are now being accepted for the 2025 African STARS Fellowship Program by the Mastercard Foundation in partnership with Stellenbosch University in South Africa. Tuition, housing, living expenses, research costs, and round-trip airfare are all covered by this fully funded scholarship, which covers every aspect of earning an MSc.
With funding from the Mastercard Foundation, the Institut Pasteur de Dakar (IPD) in Senegal and the Centre for Epidemic Response and Innovation (CERI) at Stellenbosch University collaborated to create the African STARS MSc Fellowship. The program gives international students the chance to enroll in Stellenbosch University’s Master of Bioinformatics of Infectious Diseases and Pathogen Genomics program in South Africa. The official application period for the 2025 cohort has begun.
Eligibility Criteria :
- Africa must be the place of birth and/or current residence.
- The applicant must be 35 years of age or younger.
A four-year degree with a minimum of 65% in one of the following subjects, or a Bachelor of Science with Honors (NQF Level 8), is required.

- or a discipline that is closely linked
- Women are strongly encouraged to apply.
