The U.S.-Japan Council Emerging Leaders Program 2025 is currently accepting applications. This fully financed leadership conference will take place in Honolulu, Hawaii, over the course of five days, from October 13 to October 17, 2025. All costs, including airfare, lodging, food, and program-related expenses, are fully covered, and there is no application fee.
Twelve exceptional people are chosen by the program each year to attend the U.S.-Japan Council Annual Conference and become Associate Members. Through leadership development, significant professional connections, and the creation of enduring personal relationships, the project seeks to empower the next generation of leaders. Participants will discuss a variety of current issues pertaining to the U.S.-Japan partnership’s present and future.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Age: Candidates must be between the ages of 24 and 35 by the Annual Conference.
- Citizenship: Must be a citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States.
- Residence: Must be able to travel to Honolulu for the conference and currently reside in the United States or Japan.
- Interest in U.S.-Japan Relations: Must exhibit a keen interest in U.S.-Japan relations by personal involvement, professional employment, academic background, or community service.
- Leadership: Must possess a history of taking the lead in community projects or professional contexts.
- Commitment: The readiness to continue participating in the U.S.-Japan Council’s activities following the conference.
Benefits:
