Google is going to revolutionize the way we check the time with its upcoming Pixel Watch 2 which will have the very ingenious “Vibration Watch” function. On the Pixel Watch 2, a sharp-eyed Redditor recently came across a unique feature in the vibration menu that suggests an innovative way of keeping time.
The idea is simple yet revolutionary – users merely have to tap the watch face with two fingers to find out the time using vibrations. A single click gives an hour and two clicks would show the minute. However, to avoid potential complications with the vibrating minute hand, Google has devised two display modes: Numeric and Abbrev.
Digits mode is to use long vibrations for 10 increments and short vibrations for one minute. Take, for example, the fact that 32 minutes after the hour would mean three long vibrations and two short ones. On the other hand, Terse mode has the option of making it easier by rounding the time and using vibrations every 15 minutes.
To improve user experience, Google intends to provide five different vibration speeds, from Very Slow to Very Fast, which will let individuals choose what suits their needs the best.
The relevance of this invention is in the fact that it helps to solve those instances where the traditional smartwatch screens may not fit. The Vibration Watch feature is ideal for situations where you are in a darkened movie theatre, next to a person who is sleeping lightly, or in a socially delicate situation. It is a discreet way of checking the time without disturbing anyone.
The feature has appeared in the Pixel Watch 2 settings, but users report that it does not work at the moment. Android Police also re-enforced this, leaving the masses of users hungry for its activity. Rumours suggest a possible appearance in the next Pixel Feature Drop on March 2024 bringing a refresh for Pixel Watch 2 users shortly.
The tech sphere is on the brink of a revolutionary change as the day when smartwatches will gracefully show time through a sequence of sophisticated vibrations is drawing near, and users can only hope for this day to come. Stay tuned for more information about the life-changing feature!
