Saudi Arabia Reveals Massive Jafurah Field Gas Reserves

Published:

The discovery of large natural gas reserves in the Jafurah field has transformed Saudi Arabia’s energy landscape. Saudi Arabia’s energy dominance is reinforced by this discovery, owned by Aramco.

Jafurah, an unconventional gas reservoir, has produced 15 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and 2 billion barrels of condensate. This remarkable acquisition boosts Jafurah’s estimated gas and condensate resources to 229 trillion cubic feet and 75 billion barrels. These abundant resources demonstrate the field’s importance and ability to boost long-term economic growth.

Unconventional Jafurah oilfield southeast of Ghawar oilfield makes extraction difficult. Saudi Arabia wants to use Jafurah despite these obstacles. Aramco began $10 billion contracts for this aim in 2021, expecting to spend $68 billion over the first decade.

Jafurah, spanning 17,000 square kilometers, might become a significant natural gas producer, supplying vital materials to many sectors. Production is estimated to rise to 2 billion cubic feet per day by 2030 from 200 million in 2025.

This huge project makes Saudi Arabia a top natural gas producer. Aramco’s $100 billion investment in Jafurah shows its scale and potential long-term advantages. The project is expected to create over 200,000 direct and indirect jobs in Saudi Arabia, boosting the economy and employment.

Jafurah field development transforms Saudi Arabia’s energy industry. With rich natural gas reserves and ambitious expansion ambitions, the project may boost economic growth, job creation, and worldwide energy importance for the monarchy.
