A global forum for students and new developers to contribute to open-source projects is provided by the Google Summer of Code (GSoC). After being chosen for the programme, participants will work with open-source organizations on coding projects for 12 weeks under the supervision of mentors. After the project is over, each intern will receive a stipend that varies based on where they are from $3000 to $6600. Now in its twentieth year, Google Summer of Code (GSoC) has brought many engineers into the open-source community every year. Google has broadened its scope in 2024 to encompass further initiatives in the fields of security, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. In order to fulfill the increasing demand in the domains of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and career certificates, Google has also started offering courses in these areas.
The Operation of Google Summer of Code:
- Students and developers send project proposals to open-source organizations that are involved.
- Organizations choose participants for the summer programme by evaluating submissions.
- Selected candidates are paired with mentors from their preferred companies and given the go-ahead to start working on their projects within the allotted time, participants finish their projects and turn them in for assessment.
