Ships carrying Aid Convoy Departs Cyprus for Gaza as Hunger Crisis Intensifies

Second aid sails from Cyprus to Gaza amid hunger fears

On Saturday, a three-ship convoy left Larnaca carrying 400 tons of food and vital supplies to address Gaza Strip famine. World Central Kitchen, a US organization, organized the convoy to help the area, where humanitarian needs are high.
The convoy of ships and a barge carries rice, pasta, flour, beans, canned veggies, and proteins. The package also includes dates, eaten to break the Ramadan fast.

After the Open Arms vessel delivered 200 tons of food and water on the Cyprus-Gaza sea route’s initial voyage this month, this campaign began. UN and partner warnings of a possible famine in northern Gaza as early as this month have increased the need for urgent assistance delivery.
Humanitarian authorities want Israel to allow supply convoys to use land routes since marine and air deliveries are insufficient. Israel must open more land crossings and adopt greater humanitarian measures, according to the highest UN court.
The UN and other humanitarian agencies report that the violence has displaced over 80% of Gaza’s population and driven hundreds of thousands to the verge of hunger. Israel’s military targets dozens of Gaza locations despite UN Security Council appeals for a cease-fire.
In a concerted operation, the US military airdropped about 100,000 pounds of aid on Friday and over a million pounds in total to help Gazans.
