Tajikistan Detains 9 for Moscow Concert Hall Attack

Published:

Tajikistan’s national security service has apprehended nine people suspected of connections to last week’s 144-casualty suburban Moscow music hall attack.
On Friday, Russian state news agency RIA Novosti announced the arrests, precisely one week after gunmen opened fire on concertgoers at Crocus City Hall before setting it on fire. The four arrested attackers are Tajiks.

An Islamic State offshoot claimed responsibility for the attack, one of the worst on Russian soil in recent years. Kyiv strongly denies Kremlin charges of Ukrainian and Western complicity.
A Tajikistan security source told RIA Novosti that the inmates are from Vakhdat, east of Dushanbe. They may be affiliated with ISIS.
Russian courts have remanded nine individuals in pre-trial custody.
President Vladimir Putin and other Russian officials have blamed Ukraine and the West without proof. The Russian Investigative Committee has stated that Ukraine provided major financial assistance, including bitcoin, for the assault.
Ukraine strongly denies involvement, accusing Moscow of inventing charges to justify escalated aggressiveness in the conflict. Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said Friday that a badly injured victim in a hospital had died, bringing the death toll to 144.
