UN Envoy Charges Israel with Humanitarian Law Violation

Published:

The UN Special Rapporteur on Counter-Terrorism and Human Rights criticized Israel for violating international humanitarian law, according to Anadolu Agency.
Ben Saul, the ambassador, noted Israel’s recent bombardment on Gaza’s major hospital, Al-Shifa, which killed several. He said that approximately 30,000 people had been murdered and 70,000 wounded since October 7.

Israeli forces left Al-Shifa Hospital on Monday following a two-week raid that damaged the institution.
Due to Israel’s assistance limitations, 1.1 million Gazans are starving and lack access to food help, Saul said.
He blamed Israel for impeding relief delivery despite collaboration, killing humanitarian workers. Saul has criticized Israel for violating International Court of Justice and Security Council Ramadan ceasefire resolutions.
Using International Court of Justice judgements, Saul charged Israel of war crimes for disproportionately attacking civilians.
He asked nations to block military transfers and impose diplomatic and economic penalties on Israel.
Following a Hamas cross-border raid, Israel has launched a military offensive in Gaza since October, causing severe fatalities and devastation. Israel’s siege has worsened humanitarian issues in Gaza, threatening famine and displacement.
The UN reports substantial infrastructure damage in Gaza, forcing most of the population to flee and causing food, water, and medication shortages.
