Iranian Journalist Pouria Zeraati Survives Stabbing in  London

Published:

Tehran International journalist Pouria Zeraati describes a terrifying incident outside his Wimbledon, London home. After two assailants injured Zeraati in the back of his thigh while exiting his residence, Iran International’s Final Word host feared for his life.

Zeraati described the horrifying incident as one attacker demanded money before another hugged him. Soon after, he realised he had been stabbed with a gangster weapon. Although shocked, Zeraati remained calm until the assailants withdrew, leaving him bloody.

Zeraati understood the attack’s objective when he realised nothing was stolen. He assumed the attack was due to his job as a writer for Iran International, which has been targeted by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Zeraati was brought to the hospital and discharged within 48 hours after his injuries were treated. Iranian official media falsely reported his death while he recovered.

Detectives suspect the attackers fled the country after leaving their car. This event highlights the risks Iran International journalists confront and Iranian authorities’ persistent attacks on the channel and its workers.
