This fully financed fellowship is intended to support master’s degree programs in areas related to economic, political, and social development. Students from underdeveloped and rising nations are the intended audience for this fellowship, which is offered by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Applicants for the Helmut Schmidt Program must have completed 16 years of education toward a bachelor’s degree. This initiative involves seven universities. Submission does not require payment of an application fee. October 2024 will see selections, while October 2025 will see the start of classes. Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants from emerging and developing countries may submit their applications. Please see the Helmut Schmidt Scholarship Eligibility List.
  • A bachelor’s degree in social and political sciences, law, economics, public policy, administration, or a similar field is required of applicants.
  • It is necessary to finish a 16-year bachelor’s degree program at a university.
  • Applicants need to submit an application for the designated Master’s program.
  • A candidate may submit an application for up to two Master’s degree programs.
  • Applications must be submitted in either German or English.
  • The age of candidates is not restricted.
