The University of York GREAT Scholarship is available from the British Council to foreign students who want to study in the UK.
Under the scholarship program, students pursuing one year of postgraduate studies in the UK will receive a minimum of £10,000. GREAT scholarships are typically awarded in collaboration with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign to students from particular nations.

International students enrolling to various postgraduate courses at the University of York can apply for five scholarships, provided by the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign.
Launched by the British Council in partnership with 72 UK universities, the GREAT Scholarship 2024 program aims to assist postgraduate students from many nations—including Nigeria—in gaining access to excellent higher education options in the UK.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, or China.
- Fee Assessment: At the foreign fee rate, fee assessments must be finished by May 20, 2024.
- Language Requirement: By May 20, 2024, all language requirements of the offer must be satisfied.
- Acceptance of Offer: Before May 20, 2024, an offer, either unconditional or conditional, for a postgraduate taught course lasting one year at the University of York must be received (acceptance of the offer is not essential).
- Finances: As long as the GREAT scholarship doesn’t fully cover tuition costs, it can be paired with outside funds.
- Ambassadorship: Selected candidates will serve as ambassadors for the GREAT program on behalf of the British Council and the University of York.
