African Union ESISMAD Scholarship (Project African) 2024 | Fully Funded

Students who meet the eligibility requirements and show interest in studying at institutions in Europe and Africa can apply for the ESISMAD Scholarship, which is provided by the European Union in partnership with the African Union. Under the direction of the Pan-African Partnership, the African Union and the European Union are collaborating on the ESISMAD Scholarship, commonly known as the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme.

Electrochemical Science and Innovative Materials for Sustainable Africa Development, or ESIMSAD, is an initiative organized by four Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Africa and one technical partner from the EU.

In collaboration with the Department for Human Resources, Science, and Technology of the African Union Commission, the European Commission directly oversees the initiative through the Education, Audio-visual, and Culture Executive Agency. This agency operates under the direction of the Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be African residents and citizens of an African Union member state.
  • Requires enrolment, admission, or possession of a degree (or its equivalent) from an African Higher Education Institution (HEI).
  • should, as part of the ESIMSAD project, exhibit interest in and experience with the following areas: Materials Science, Solar Energy, Physics, Inorganic Chemistry, Materials Electrochemistry, and Energy Technologies.
  • must be at least somewhat proficient in the language of instruction utilized in the host countries’ courses.
  • Under the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme, students are only eligible for one scholarship, regardless of the kind of mobility or funding initiative.
  • Scholarships under the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme are not available to students who have already been awarded under the former Intra-ACP Academic Mobility Scheme.
