The International Fund for Agricultural Development, or IFAD for short, is a specialised organisation of the United Nations that works to fight hunger and poverty in developing countries’ rural areas. Participants in the IFAD Enhanced Internship Program obtain practical experience and worthwhile learning opportunities in disciplines related to IFAD’s purpose.
Students participating in undergraduate or graduate programs as well as recent graduates are eligible to apply for the IFAD Internship. Interns are placed in IFAD country offices, regional offices, or multi-country offices for the six-month internship program. The IFAD Headquarters is located in Rome, Italy.
Interns are supported by IFAD through monthly housing, transport, and compensation. Crucially, there are never any application costs assessed by IFAD during the entire procedure. The requirements for the internship and the application procedure are described in further detail below.
