TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visits Programme in Germany 2024-25

For postdoctoral researchers, Opportunities Circle offers a fantastic opportunity: the TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visits Programme in Germany for 2024–2025. Applications are now being accepted for this project, which is a partnership between UNESCO-TWAS and the German Research Foundation (DFG). It offers researchers from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) the opportunity to work with German scientists on research projects.

This special initiative, which is open to all academic disciplines, aims to promote scientific collaboration and exchange. Within a year of earning the prize, researchers will visit a German research institute for three months. The program aims to create long-term collaborations between German scientists and MENA scientists that could lead to additional DFG programs.

Applications from female researchers are highly encouraged, and there is no age restriction. The initiative ensures that researchers can concentrate on their work by providing considerable support that covers living and travel expenses. Candidates need to find a German host institution. This is an incredible opportunity for worldwide study that is not to be passed up.

Country: Germany

Financial coverage: Partially Funded

Opportunity Type: Exchange Programs, Postdoctoral Fellowship, Training

Eligible Regions: MENA Region (Algeria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Oman, State of Palestine, Syrian Arab Republic, Tunisia, Yemen)

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates must hold a research job in a MENA (Middle East and North Africa) nation and be citizens of that region.
  • A PhD degree is required as a minimum for applicants.
  • By 2019, at the latest, they ought to have received their PhD. The cap is extended for female applicants by two years for each kid, up to a maximum of three children. This means that a woman with three children may apply if her PhD was earned in 2013 or later.
  • In order to be eligible for the TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visits Program 2024, applicants must locate a German Host Institute.
  • Individuals who already work with the planned host are ineligible. Collaboration that already exists can involve joint publications, prior visits to the host’s lab, interactions at conferences or the applicant’s MSc or PhD under the host professor’s supervision.
  • Visits under the three-month TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visits Program must be finished within a year of being awarded.
  • Those who are currently in Germany are not permitted to apply.
  • It is not possible for previous TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visit grantees to reapply. The German host has to apply for funding via the DFG Initiation of International Collaboration Programme in order to go on a second visit.
  • We strongly invite female scientists to apply in 2024 for this postdoctoral program.

Benefits:

  • Postdoctoral researchers from the MENA region have a great opportunity thanks to the TWAS Visits Programme.
  • The postdoctoral program alleviates scholars’ financial problems by paying for their travel expenditures.
  • In a similar vein, the DFG covers researchers’ living expenses while they are in Germany.
  • Research cooperation with German scientists is made possible through the Cooperation Visits Program.
  • It actively promotes female scientists to apply.
  • Researchers of any age are welcome to apply to the TWAS-DFG Program, regardless of their academic discipline.
  • Furthermore, researchers are able to travel to Germany and work at a German research institute through the postdoctoral research program.
