For a period of eighteen months, the University of Birmingham’s Cadbury Fellowship program is seeking an African Studies research fellow to enhance our research environment and instructional activities.
The fellow and their mentor will work together to design a research program. An endowment that enables faculty members from universities in sub-Saharan Africa to work at the University of Birmingham provides funding for this post.
Therefore, only candidates who are currently situated in Africa and have ties to African higher education institutions are eligible to apply for this position.
Eligibility Criteria:
- possess a current place of residence on the African continent and be employed by or connected to an African university.
- Applicants must either: Not be employed as a permanent faculty member at this time, or
- Include with their application a statement attesting to the fact that they will be released from their home institution for the duration of their appointment at the University of Birmingham.
- own a doctorate that was evaluated and approved between September 1, 2018, and April 1, 2024.
- Have a track record of studies and writings relevant to your post-doctoral experience level.
- Show that you are competent to write a strong, realistic research and publishing proposal in the African Studies discipline.
- be able to support African Studies instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
