With great pleasure, Past Global Changes (PAGES) announces the African Mobility Fellowship, commonly known as the Inter-Africa Mobility Research Fellowship Program. With the opportunity to gain international research experience inside the continent, this initiative seeks to encourage African scientists in their early careers who are researching historical global developments. August 15, 2024, is the next deadline for applications.
The African Mobility Fellowship offers postdoctoral researchers and PhD students linked with African institutions minimal financial help for travel and sustenance. This support is intended for early-career academics from African countries. The principal objective is to promote cooperative research and fortify the African paleo science network.

Fellowship Duration:
The fellowship is granted for a brief period, ranging from two to four weeks. Recipients must utilize the fellowship within 12 months from the award date.
Eligibility Criteria:
- be nearing the end of their PhD or, if they haven’t held a postdoctoral appointment, within five years of finishing their degree.
- Hold a paid job or be a student in their nation of origin during the duration of the fellowship application process.
- own an African nationality and be enrolled in or employed by an African-based educational institution.
- Conduct research that falls within PAGES’ scientific purview.
- have obtained a contract from a host institution or researcher in another African nation.
- Make sure the fellowship is awarded within a year of the award date, specifically between two and four weeks.
Benefits:
- Air travel abroad: flights in economy class.
- Visa costs are the costs associated with getting the required travel documents.
- Living expenses include the price of food and lodging for the length of the exchange.
- Consumables for the lab: No more than 10% of the overall funding.
