Jose Mourinho showed his class by consoling Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic after the Champions League final. Dortmund lost 2-0 to Real Madrid in a thrilling match at Wembley Stadium, with goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Junior.
The victory secured Real Madrid’s 15th Champions League title and marked Carlo Ancelotti’s fifth as a manager.
Mourinho, who is set to become the new manager of Fenerbahce, was working as a pundit but took a moment to speak with Terzic after the match. Mourinho left the broadcast set to approach Terzic on the pitch, offering words of encouragement.
Host Laura Woods noted, “We’ve lost Jose Mourinho; he’s marched onto the pitch… He’s going over to see Edin Terzic. A really classy moment between two managers.”
When asked about the exchange, Mourinho said, “He was saying that it’s very hard, and I told him it will be hard for the rest of his career and life, but he should be proud of his work. As a coach, you can’t do more. The coach can’t score goals. The coach can only organize, instill mentality, and give confidence, and he did all that.”
Mourinho praised Dortmund’s strategy, saying, “They were brave, pressing high and maintaining a strong defense. They covered Vinicius and Rodrygo well. They did everything right except score. He should be proud, but he won’t forget this loss.”
Later, Mourinho confirmed his appointment at Fenerbahce on social media, saying, “Good evening Fenerbahce fans, see you tomorrow at Kadikoy, and let’s start our journey together.”
Mourinho joins Fenerbahce after they finished second in the league with 99 points, just three points behind rivals Galatasaray. His mission is to bring glory back to Istanbul, and his impressive track record suggests he’s up to the task.
