The 2024 Mastercard TAGDev Scholarship, which aims to empower young graduates throughout Africa, is currently accepting applications. The Mastercard TAGDev Scholarship is a comprehensive award that includes living expenses such as housing and stipend, research costs, workshop and conference fees, laptops, internship placements, and entrepreneurship training.

The Mastercard TAGDev Scholarship is being offered by the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM), in association with the Mastercard Foundation and multiple other African universities.
Improving TVET and university systems to better serve communities is the goal of the Transforming African Agricultural Universities to Meaningfully Contribute to Africa’s Growth and Development (TAGDev 2.0) initiative. Its main goal is to enable and empower Africa’s young and their institutions to lead the transformation of the agri-food and agricultural systems in a way that is egalitarian, inclusive, and climate-resilient.
Eligibility Criteria:
- To be eligible for the corresponding national scholarship quota, one must be a citizen of either Kenya or Uganda.
- Be a refugee living in Kenya or Uganda in order to take advantage of the regional quota.
- come from areas impacted by violence and its aftermath, economically poor groups, or marginalized populations.
- At the time of application, you must be under 25 for undergraduate studies and under 30 for master’s programs.
- Be under 29 years old for undergraduate studies and under 34 years old for master’s studies at the time of application for refugees and people with disabilities.
- possess a diploma from secondary school or have graduated within the last two years in order to apply for a bachelor’s degree.
- fulfill the requirements for admission to the chosen university’s (Egerton University) approved programs.
