- Candidates must be between the ages of 16 and 35 (or, for present Chinese instructors, up to 45). Applicants for undergraduate scholarships must be less than 20.
- Proficiency in the Chinese language is required (oral and written HSK, BCT, and spoken BCT recognized). For instance, a scholarship for an academic course needs a minimum of 180 written HSK3 points and 60 oral HSK points.
- Send in the undergraduate transcript and graduation to be considered for the MTCSOL award. A high school graduation certificate is needed to enroll in Chinese language or BTCSOL courses.
