Switzerland CERN Scholarship Programme | Fully Funded 2024

International students can pursue a graduate degree in Switzerland with full funding under the Switzerland CERN Student Programme. The Switzerland CERN Scholarship Program offers health insurance, a travel allowance, and an annual allowance of CHF 46,416, among other benefits.

We will go over the prerequisites and advantages of this scholarship opportunity, along with the application process, in this post.

All interested and eligible international students may now apply for the 2024 Switzerland CERN Student Program.

Researchers studying the fundamental structure of the universe include engineers and physicists at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research. They study the fundamental particles that are designed to collide at nearly the speed of light, the building blocks of matter, using the biggest and most sophisticated scientific apparatuses in the world.

This process gives scientists insights into the underlying principles of nature and hints regarding particle interactions.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • You are a citizen of one of the Associate or Member States of CERN.
  • At a university, you have begun or are about to begin a PhD program.
  • Your university will award you a PhD, and the work you do here at CERN will make up all or part of the thesis work needed for that degree. Your CERN supervisor and your university thesis supervisor will talk about the academic arrangements.
  • You are fluent in either French or English.

Benefits:

  • a six-month introductory contract that can be renewed for a maximum of three years.
  • You may choose to divide the entire time (up to 36 months) across a maximum of four years in order to spend time at your university (for up to 12 months, granted as unpaid exceptional leave).
  • a monthly allowance of 3,868 Swiss Francs (before taxes).
  • an allowance for travel.
  • A supplement if you are married and/or have kids, depending on your particular situation.
  • coverage through the extensive health insurance program of CERN (with your stipend automatically reduced to cover the premium).
  • A paid leave of 2.5 days every month.
