GCA Local Adaptation Champions Awards 2024 | Win Cash Prize

Published:

The GCA Local Adaptation Champions Awards 2024, which award a €15,000 cash prize, are currently accepting applications. These prizes recognize creative, scalable, and locally-driven efforts that mitigate the effects of climate change. Applications are encouraged from any eligible organizations or networks throughout the world that are putting resilience and/or adaptation strategies based on the eight Locally Led Adaptation Principles into practice. These grants aid communities who are at risk in building strong climate resilience.

Four categories are included in the awards: local entrepreneurship, urban adaptation solutions, food security, and water security. The Water Security category honours neighbourhood-based initiatives that use efficient management to solve water-related problems and guarantee fair access for disadvantaged populations. The Food Security category showcases regional programs that support climate-smart food production systems, guaranteeing underprivileged communities’ long-term access to wholesome foods. The Urban Adaptation Solutions category honours initiatives that involve vulnerable groups and local leaders in urban settings to improve adaptive capability. In order to empower local governments and communities, the Local Entrepreneurship category recognizes locally owned businesses that are developing or utilising cutting-edge technology to address local climate risks.

There will be twenty finalists chosen, and four winners will get a €15,000 award and be invited to the Award Ceremony during COP29 in Baku, which takes place from November 11–22, 2024. Candidates that are interested must apply before the deadline.
