The American University Emerging Global Leader Scholarship supports international diversity, encourages access to education, and pays for all costs. All billable AU expenditures are covered by the American University Global Leader Scholarship, including full tuition, lodging, and board. The university also grants partial scholarships up to $40,000 annually.

International diversity is enhanced and educational access and opportunity are promoted through the AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship (AU EGLS).
Up to four years of undergraduate education are covered by the AU EGL scholarship, provided that the student maintains a good GPA. Students may apply if they are interested in any degree provided by AU.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Be an international student who has surmounted a variety of difficulties and hardships, particularly for individuals from varied and marginalized socioeconomic and global origins.
- Be in the top 10% of your graduating class or have a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 4.0 for grades 9 through 12.
- Exhibit a dedication to community service, leadership, volunteering, and improving the needs of the people in your own nation.

- The AU EGL scholarship pays for all billable AU costs for one international student who needs to study in the US on a non-immigrant visa (ideally an F-1 or J-1 student visa), including full tuition, housing, and board.
- Non-billable costs like required health insurance, books, airfare, taxes, and other incidentals (about $4,000 year) are not covered by the scholarship.
