Commonwealth Youth Essay Award 2024 | Step-by-Step Process

With great excitement, the Commonwealth Secretariat in the UK announces the opening of the “Think Trade, Think Green: Commonwealth Youth Essay Award Competition.”

Young people are encouraged to enter this competition, which has a £2,000 reward. It seeks to investigate how trade policy might be a solution and to give them a bigger role in climate action.

To assist you in submitting your entry for the Commonwealth Essay Competition, this post has all the information you need, including requirements, essay criteria, and a step-by-step approach. Young people throughout the Commonwealth are challenged by the Commonwealth Youth Essay Award to investigate the connection between trade and climate change and to suggest ways that trade policy might contribute to addressing the climate emergency.

Over 60% of the 2.7 billion people living in the 56 Commonwealth member countries are between the ages of 15 and 29. The Commonwealth young Programme (CYP) has been concentrating on young empowerment for more than 50 years because it understands that it is crucial to inclusive development and economic prosperity.

The CYP is inviting youth to take part in this essay competition in order to increase their voices in climate action and policy, in partnership with the Trade Competitiveness Section of the Secretariat.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • To compete in this competition, you must be a Commonwealth national and be between the ages of 18 and 29.
  • Essay length restrictions apply: 2,000 words maximum (including footnotes and in-text references, but not the reference list).
  • Complete referring in the reference list and the text, regardless of style.
  • Submissions must be made as a single Word or PDF file using Times New Roman font and 1.5 spacing.

Benefits:

  • First prize: £1,000
  • Second and third prizes: £500 each
