In the Bosnian school shooting, a former caretaker killed three teachers.
Three educators lost their lives in a sad event at a school in Bosnia and Herzegovina while attending a staff meeting. The gunman, who was allegedly a former caretaker, opened fire with an automatic weapon. Around 10:15 a.m. local time, an attack occurred at the Sanski Most Gymnasium secondary school located in northwest Bosnia.
The victims have been named as Nijaz Halilović, the director of the school, Gordana Midžan, the English instructor, and Nisveta Kljunić, the school secretary. A second individual suffered severe injuries and was admitted to the hospital.
Mehemed Vukalić, the suspected shooter, is thought to have had a disagreement with the administration of the institution. Following his shooting spree at the school authorities, Vukalić allegedly made an attempt to end his life. He was hospitalised but is expected to make a full recovery.
Since the school was closed for the summer, no pupils were present when the incident occurred. The event has startled the area, where unlawful gun ownership is still a major problem as a result of the hostilities that followed Yugoslavia’s collapse in the 1990s.
This horrific incident highlights persistent worries about gun violence in the Balkans and comes after other recent shootings there.
