Cristiano Ronaldo, the legendary Portuguese footballer, launched his new YouTube channel, “UR Cristiano,” on Wednesday and quickly made history by breaking the record for the fastest channel to reach 1 million subscribers. Within just 90 minutes of going live, millions of fans had already signed up, and the number continues to climb, now sitting at 15.4 million subscribers.
The channel features 19 videos showcasing Ronaldo’s life, including personal moments with his family. Announcing the launch on Instagram, Ronaldo encouraged fans to “SIUUUbscribe” to his channel, referencing his famous “Siuu” celebration. The immediate response from his followers was overwhelming, and Ronaldo received a gold “play button” plaque from YouTube for surpassing the 1 million subscriber mark. Sharing a video of this moment with his children, Ronaldo expressed his gratitude: “A present for my family ❤️ Thank you to all the SIUUUbscribers!”
Although Ronaldo’s subscriber count has quickly overtaken that of his long-time football rival, Lionel Messi, who has 2.31 million subscribers on his own YouTube channel, Ronaldo still has some distance to go to catch up to YouTube’s most subscribed creator, MrBeast, who boasts 331 million subscribers.
This is not the first time Ronaldo has set records on social media. With an impressive 636 million followers on Instagram, 170 million on Facebook, and 112.6 million on X (formerly Twitter), Ronaldo remains one of the most influential figures online. His latest foray into YouTube further cements his status as a global icon, extending his reach beyond the football pitch and into the digital world.
