YALI West Africa Emerging Leaders Program 2024 | Fully Funded |

Through its renowned YALI West Africa Emerging Leaders Program, the U.S. Government’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) seeks to invest in the future generation of African leaders.

Participants will receive reimbursement for all program-related costs, including lodging, meals, travel, and visa fees. Africa’s impressive economic growth, increased attractiveness as an investment destination, and developments in leadership and governance are gaining recognition.

The Accra Regional Leadership Centre (RLC) will provide a transformative leadership training program as part of this US government effort. Three core subjects (Leadership and Accountability, Ethics, and Contemporary Issues Affecting Africa) and one elective (Electronics: Public Policy and Management, Entrepreneurship, or Civil Society Management) are offered in this five-week course.

The online portion will be available to all of West Africa, while the in-person training will be held at the Accra RLC in Ghana. Experienced experts from Africa and beyond will lead the courses, utilising cutting-edge instructional techniques to improve student learning. Eligibility Criteria:

  • Age: At the time of application, candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 35.
  • Citizenship and residency: Applicants must be citizens of one of the following nations: Burkina Faso, Liberia, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, or Libya.
  • U.S. Status: Candidates cannot be citizens or lawful permanent residents of the United States.
  • Eligibility for Visas: In order to enter Ghana, applicants must be able to secure any required visas.
  • Language Proficiency: Candidates must be fluent in English while speaking, writing, listening, and reading.
