UNODC Grace Essay Writing Competition 2024 (Win Fully Funded Trip to Austria)

Young activists from all around the world are invited to enter the UNODC Grace Essay Writing Competition 2024, which is regarded as one of the best worldwide essay writing contests. Twenty finalists will be chosen from each region to participate in an entirely paid youth anti-corruption program in Vienna, Austria. Coverage for the Austrian visa, travel expenses, and lodging in Vienna will be provided by UNODC. This tournament, which is open to participants of all countries, aims to give young people the confidence to voice their opinions and fight corruption. Young people have a forum to express their thoughts on decreasing corruption through the UNODC GRACE essay writing competition. The competition, which is anti-corruption, ethics, and integrity-focused, promotes creative solutions to these problems. Essays should also discuss how corruption affects people as individuals, families, and communities, emphasizing the role that civil society plays in battling corruption. Twenty essays will be chosen by UNODC as the best, and the writers will be invited to a youth anti-corruption workshop in Vienna to talk about the importance of youth in fighting corruption and to share ideas with peers from across the globe.

Essay Topics:

Contextual Knowledge: Give a succinct synopsis of the state of corruption in your nation and describe the initiatives taken by the government, civil society organizations, and/or private citizens to address it. Mention pertinent initiatives from civil society or participation in the UNCAC.

Personal Experience: Describe, in your own words, how corruption affects you, your family, and/or your community.

Local Initiative: Summarize a particular action or project carried out by a person, team, or entity combating corruption in your nation. If you can tie this initiative to any of the topics mentioned in the Roadmap—for example, empowering victims of corruption, involving young people in decision-making, raising awareness, forming coalitions, or funding youth-led research, education, and innovation—you will receive bonus points.

  • The UNODC will pay for travel, lodging, and a visa for visitors to Vienna, Austria.
  • It is free to participate.
