Ireland Government Postgraduate Scholarship 2025 (Funded)

Applications are currently being accepted for the Ireland Government Postgraduate Scholarship and Postdoctoral Fellowship for the 2025–2026 academic year. The goal of these fellowships and scholarships is to assist postdoctoral, master’s, and doctoral research applicants who intend to undertake full-time research in any discipline in Irish universities. These opportunities are overseen by the Irish Research Council (IRC) and are funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation, and Science.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Both Irish and international students are eligible to apply for the award.
  • Applicants must first finish an online eligibility quiz in order to access the application form.
  • The applicant’s age is not restricted.
  • To apply for a Master’s program, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree; to apply for a PhD program, they must have a Master’s degree.
  • Although they can apply, students who are awaiting their results must submit a temporary certificate from their home institution.
  • The application form must be filled out by applicants, and their overall degree results must be verified on an official transcript and approved by the host university.
  • During their studies in Ireland, all applicants must have a willing supervisor who can help them with their research projects.

Benefits:

  • A stipend of €22,000 will be awarded annually to the selected students.
  • Students’ annual research expenses will be reimbursed up to €3,250.
  • Applicants will be able to attend prestigious Irish universities around the world.
  • The scholarship also pays a portion of tuition, up to a maximum of €5,750 year, including non-EU costs.
