Middle East Conflict Disrupts UAE Flights: Major Delays and Route Changes Impact Global Travel

Published:

Emirates and Qatar Airways are suffering considerable delays on flights between Europe and the UAE due to the Middle East turmoil. Since Iraq and Iran are closed, planes must fly over Greece, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, which is longer and more complicated.

Flights on closely scheduled routes to Dubai, Doha, and Abu Dhabi are arriving several hours late, causing missed connections and more delays. Rerouting delayed the Tuesday London Heathrow-Dubai Emirates flight by an hour, affecting passengers connecting to other planes. Due to missed connections and cancellations, some travelers may wait days in hubs.

European regulations require food, lodging, and compensation for UK and EU travelers, yet Emirates and Qatar Airways fly from outside these territories. Longer travel times may cause more problems across the Gulf, with British Airways canceling flights.

As Middle East tensions persist, aviation traffic will be strained, affecting global travel plans and delaying many travelers.
